A Note from the Founder

For me, that observation emerged gradually through decades of listening to parents, meeting children, working alongside communities, and witnessing both the extraordinary resilience and the profound vulnerability that exist within family life. Across different countries, cultures, and circumstances, I kept noticing one fundamental truth:

Children flourish when the adults around them are supported.

At first, this truth seemed almost too simple. Over time, I came to realize it explains far more than we often acknowledge.

When parents feel understood, they are better equipped to understand their children. When caregivers gain confidence, children experience deeper security. When families receive encouragement rather than judgment, they become resilient. And when communities invest in those who raise children, they quietly invest in generations they may never meet.

During more than three decades of humanitarian and development work, much of it dedicated to improving the lives of children, I learned an enduring lesson: the greatest challenges facing children are rarely solved by a single program, institution, or policy. Children do not grow in systems; they grow in relationships.

Policies matter. Schools matter. Healthcare matters. But none of these can replace the influence of a trusted adult who consistently shows up. Again and again, I saw remarkable parents carrying extraordinary burdens while quietly wondering whether they were doing enough — not from a lack of love, but because every child is unique, and no parent receives an infallible manual for the journey.

I came to believe that the most effective way to improve children’s lives is to strengthen the people who care for them every day.

When artificial intelligence began transforming society, I found myself asking questions different from those driving mainstream technological development. I was less interested in how intelligent machines might become, and far more interested in whether they could help human beings become more thoughtful.

Those questions led directly to the founding of Tarbiya AI. Not because I believe technology can raise children — it cannot, nor should it ever try. Children need parents, families, teachers, and communities. Technology should remain what it has always been at its best: a disciplined tool that serves people without attempting to replace them.

One principle has guided my work throughout this journey: wisdom begins with listening. Before offering advice, we must seek to understand. Before proposing solutions, we must appreciate context. Before speaking with authority, we must remain willing to learn. Parents do not need another voice telling them where they have fallen short; they need a companion that respects their responsibilities, honors their family’s uniqueness, and offers thoughtful guidance without diminishing their judgment.

That is the companion we are building in Tarbiya AI.

While Tarbiya AI is anchored in rigorous developmental science, my perspective has also been deeply shaped by values that view every child as possessing inherent dignity, and every parent as carrying a sacred trust. For many families, these values are anchored in faith; for others, they stem from humanistic moral traditions. Truth, wisdom, and compassion are never diminished by respectful dialogue — they are enriched by it. This is why Tarbiya AI pairs evidence-based developmental science with the option for guidance informed by Islamic ethics, ensuring that every family is met with dignity and respect.

If I hold one hope for Tarbiya AI, it is not merely that it becomes an advanced technology. Systems will evolve, models will iterate, and features that seem extraordinary today will soon become ordinary. My deeper hope is that Tarbiya AI becomes known for something far more enduring: helping parents feel less alone, helping difficult conversations become gentler, and helping uncertainty yield to understanding.

Having spent my lifetime in service to human development, I remain convinced that preparing the next generation is the highest trust placed in our hands. The world our children build tomorrow will ultimately mirror the care they receive today.

If Tarbiya AI contributes, even in a small measure, to helping parents raise children grounded in wisdom, compassion, resilience, and hope, then our work will have fulfilled its true purpose.
